Tom Hughes' Obituary

On July 21st at his home,’Oban’, Caego,the death took place of Mr Tom Hughes, who was 57 years of age, Mr Hughes came from Queensferry six months ago, and in the short time had made many friends. On the Deeside he was well known as a newsagent and tobacconist , and had been in business at Holywell and Queensferry. He was a prominent Freemason and belonged to Old Castles Lodge, Hawarden where he had been a W.M.. He was also chairman of Greenfield Cricket Club. Mr Hughes was survived by his widow, one son and one daughter. The funeral took place on July 25th when Canon Gryftydh W. Jones conducted a service at the house and Berse Drelincourt Church. Cremation followed at Landican Crematorium.



Chief mourners were Mrs M.B. Hughes (widow); Mr Derek Hughes(son);Miss Carol Hughes(daughter). An apology for absence was received from Mrs Derek Hughes (daughter in law). Watts, Caego, Mrs E.A. Jones, Bronwylfa, Mr and Mrs Robert Williams, Gresford, Mr and Mrs Llew? Williams,’ Caegwyn’, New Broughton (brothers in law and sister in law), Mr and Mrs R. Proudlove, Bronwylfa, Mrs B Hughes, Acton, Mrs O Jones, Ruthin, Mrs J Fletcher, Buckley, Mrs J Rowlands, Rhosesmor(nephews and nieces and cousins), Mr and Mrs P. Hampson, Miss Hampson and a contingent of Brethren of Old Castles Lodge, Freemasons, Hawarden.
